President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has ordered the service chiefs to enhance military operations in all areas of security breach and threat to national unity in the country.
The president also directed the military to deploy security in relation to the non negotiations of the unity of Nigeria, and asked that the directives be taken to the letter.
President BUHARI met with the service chiefs behind closed-doors in his office at the Presidential Villa today.
After the meeting, the Chief of Defence Staff, General GABRIEL OLONISHAKIN told State House Correspondents that the meeting was to update President BUHARI on security issues within and outside the country where the nation’s troops are positioned.
The president’s directives came more than 24 hours after his renewed commitment on the fight against insurgency and unity of Nigeria in his nationwide broadcast on Monday.
The meeting had in attendance the National Security Adviser – BABAGANA MONGONU, Chief of Army Staff – Lieutenant General TUKUR BURATAI, and the Chief of Air Staff – Air Marshal SADIQUE ABUBAKAR.
