The Senate Set to Begin Clause by Clause Voting on the 1999 Constitution Today

The senate and the House of Representatives will today begin the clause by clause voting on the 33 items in the 1999 constitution listed for amendment.

The lawmakers deferred the exercise on Tuesday, but the senate went ahead with its debate on the general principles that led to the adoption of the various recommendations for the review.

Some of the proposed amendments include devolution of power to the states, financial autonomy for local government and state legislature, and downward review of the minimum age for elective public officers, among others.
