Former ministers who served in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP administration rose from an emergency meeting yesterday and resolved to field one of its members as the party’s presidential candidate in 2019.
The former ministers also said that President Muhammadu BUHARI would be defeated if he contested the 2019 election.
The former ministers, who met under the aegis of the PDP Ministers’ Forum, also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of polarising the nation along regional, ethnic and religious lines.
It was gathered that two former ministers from the North are interested in the race.
They are a former governor of Jigawa State who was also a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji SULE LAMIDO and a former Minister of Special Duties under the regime of former President GOODLUCK JONATHAN and Alhaji SAMINU TURAKI.
Though Lamido was not at the meeting, TURAKI, who is also the chairman of the forum, was present.
Reading the communiqué of the meeting to journalists, TURAKI said that the forum was solidly behind the Senator AHMED MAKARFI-led National Caretaker Committee of the party.
