SENATE STEPS DOWN CONTROVERSIAL BILL PROPOSING FIVE NAIRA FUEL LEVY, INSISTS NO PLANS TO INCREASE FUEL PRICE

The National Assembly where the senate has rejected the report on a bill that has been generating controversy across the country, seeking to establish a National Road Fund.

The bill contains a request for an additional five naira fuel levy as one of the major sources of financing the fund.

The bill was presented at Thursday’s plenary by the Chairman, Senate committee on works, KABIRU GAYA who made some clarification on the bill.

 

But the senate stepped down the report to enable other relevant committees to go through its content.

Deputy Senate President, IKE EKWEREMADU who presided over plenary voiced the senate’s position on the matter, saying it had no plan to increase pump price.
