SENATE COMMITTEE SUMMONS CBN GOVERNOR AND FINANCE MINISTER OVER ALLEGED 30 TRILLION NAIRA CUSTOMS DUTIES INFRACTIONS

The Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff has summoned the Governor of the Central Bank, GODWIN EMEFIELE, and Finance Minister, KEMI ADEOSUN, over alleged 30 trillion naira import duties infractions.

 Also invited are the managing directors of all commercial banks, Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Nigerian Customs Service and Corporate Affairs Commission.

 They are expected to appear before members of the committee on Tuesday.

 The chairman of the committee, Senator HOPE UZODINMA, at an investigative hearing in Abuja, said the country has lost 32 trillion naira from leakages in the Nigeria Customs Service.
