PDP kicks against detention of Lamidi by Police

The National Caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party under Senator AHMED MAKARFI has kicked against the arrest and detention of the former Governor of Jigawa State, SULE LAMIDO, by Police in Kano State last weekend, describing the action as illegal and unconstitutional.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince DAYO ADEYEYE, the party raised the alarm that the action was a clear indication what the opposition should be expected ahead of  the 2019 general elections which if not checked now would be dangerous to the growing democracy in the country.

The party pointed out that the only option left for the failed government of the All Progressives Congress is to prevent the opposition from effectively campaigning and mobilizing the people for the Elections as a way of covering up their total failure in all the sectors since assumption of office since May 29, 2015.

The party however, called on the Federal Government to prevail on its security agencies to effect the immediate release of all political detainees currently in their custody including the former Governor of Benue State, GABRIEL SUSWAM, and that of Niger State, BABANGIDA ALIYU.
