Nigeriam army frees 593 detainees

The military says it has set free 593 detainees after being cleared of any association with the Boko Haram sect.

The head of the military operations in the North-East, Major General LUCKY IRABOR handed over the detainees to the official of the Borno state Government at a ceremony in Maiduguri.

According to IRABOR, who was represented by Brigadier General, ABDULRAHMAN LULUYA said the suspects who were arrested in the course of the operations in the North-East, were released on the directive of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General TUKUR BURUTAI.

IRABOR said that they were released after clearance by the Joint Investigation Team of the military, adding that they were handed over to the state government for psycho-social support before their final re-integration to the society.
