A Federal High Court, in Abuja has cleared Justice ADENIYI ADEMOLA and his wife, OLABOWALE, of all 18 charges of corruption brought against them by the Attorney General of the Federation.
Justice ADEMOLA, judge of the FHC, was among the judges arrested last October in a late night raid by the State Security Service.
He was eventually charged by the attorney general’s office for, among others, allegedly receiving bribes during the discharge of his duties.
Justice ADEMOLA had requested a speedy trial of his case before he was cleared of any wrongdoing on Wednesday by Justice JUDE OKEKE.
Justice OKEKE that the prosecution was unable to make out a prima facie case with respect to any of the 18 counts on concluding its case with 19 witnesses and exhibits A to Z to warrant calling on the defendants to enter their defence.
The judge in his final comments noted that the case of the prosecution was built on strong suspicion and speculation fueled by the feeling of fight against corruption which no reasonable court could base any conviction on.
