Presidency refutes claim on Onnoghen’s name being sent to the senate for confirmation by Osinbajo

The presidency has said there is no truth in the report making the rounds that the acting President, YEMI OSINBAJO has sent the name of Justice WALTER ONNOGHEN to the senate for confirmation as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Special Assistant to the President on Prosecution, OKOI OBONO-OBLA refuted the claim published by some newspapers while appearing on Channels Sunrise Daily.

He also made it clear that Justice WALTER ONNOGHEN was not the first to be appointed as Chief Justice of Nigeria in acting capacity.

You will recall that Justice WALTER ONNOGHEN was appointed as Chief Justice of Nigeria in acting capacity by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI on November 10th, 2016.

According to the constitution, he can only act in the position for three months which lapse this Friday, February 10.
