Here in Lagos, security has been beefed up in and around the National Stadium in Surulere as members of the One Voice Nigeria group embarked on the much talked about protest to the Freedom Park on the Island.
Lagos state commissioner of Police, FATAI OWOSENI who briefly addressed the protesters said they should conduct themselves in a peaceful manner.
One of the leaders of the group, OLU MARTINS said despite the decision of the hip-hop artiste, INNOCENT IDIBIA popularly known as TUFACE to bow out, members of the group and other right activists vowed to go ahead.
He also told correspondent TAIWO OLAPADE that the protest was not to attack anyone but to call the attention of the federal government to sufferings in the land.
Our correspondent report that there is also unusual heavy security presence at the National Theatre in Iganmu to forestall break down of law and order.
