The Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Senator DINO MELAYE, has said the National Assembly will call for a review of the contract awarded for the construction of the official residence of the Vice-President.
According to MELAYE, the gatehouse of the three-bed roomed apartment will cost two hundred and fifty million naira.
The senator, while addressing journalists in Abuja also alleged sharp practices by the contractor handling the construction of the official residences of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The contract for the construction of the Vice-President’s residence was awarded by the former President GOODLUCK JONATHAN-led administration in 2009 at a cost of seven billion naira.
But a former Minister of the FCT, Senator BALA MOHAMMED, requested from the Senate, an additional nine billion naira to complete the project.
The variation was expected to accommodate a helipad.
