The Rivers State Police Commissioner, FRANCIS MOBOLAJI ODESANYA has died at the age of 56.
ODESANYA was said to have died this morning at Sterling Hospital Ahmedabad-Gujarat in India after a brief illness.
The Inspector General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS, announced this in a statement signed by newly appointed Police PRO, CSP JIMOH MOSHOOD on today.
He was the 37th Rivers State Commissioner of Police, having succeeded FOLUSO ADEBANJO on July 12, 2016.
ODESANYA joined the force on February 1, 1986, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and rose through the ranks to his current position of Commissioner of Police on July 20, 2016 before sudden his demise
MOSHOOD said the Inspector-General of Police and his management team, commiserated with his family and the government and people of Ogun on his demise.
“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace and the good Lord grant his family and the Government and good people of Ogun State the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
The Force spokesman said that a condolence register had been opened at the reception of the Force Headquarters and Rivers Police Command headquarters, for the personnel of the Force and members of the public.
