GARBA WAHAB blames Government for the latest discovery of a cache of weapons

The latest discovery of a cache of weapons by the Nigerian Customs Service has become a huge worry for most Nigerians, especially at a time when the federal government is making a giant stride in its fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in the north and in the wake of the renewed Niger Delta crisis.

Reacting to the development in an interview, a former Director of Operations, Army Headquarters, Major General GARBA WAHAB (retired) said the failure of government to arrest and properly prosecute those involved in the illegal importation of such prohibited weapons is largely responsible for the continued impunity, while also calling for continued empowerment of the Nigerian Para-military.

On his part, a security consultant and member of the National Institute of Strategic Studies, Retired Brigadier General OLUSEGUN AJANO identified fear as a possible reason for people to want to stack up arms to protect themselves in the absence of government’s intervention, citing the Southern Kaduna crisis as an example.
