A Lagos High Court has sentenced two persons accused of fuel subsidy fraud to 10 years imprisonment.
The individuals ADAOHA UGO-NNADI and WALTER WAGBATSOMA were charged alongside their company Ontario Oil and Gas.
The accused persons were alleged to have obtained the sum of N340 million by false pretence from the Federal Government purporting the money to be subsidy payable to Ontario Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited.
They were subsequently tried and found guilty by the court. According to the judge, Justice LATEEFAT OKUNNU, the sentence would start to count from January 13, 2016.
She also ordered restitution for Ontario Oil and Gas, and asked the company to refund N754 million being the amount it defrauded the Nigerian government.
