Federal Government has commenced payment of N5, 000 to one million poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
A statement from the office of the Vice President YEMI OSINBAJO last night said the payment commenced on the heels of the payment of N30,000 stipend to graduates employed under the N-Power programme and N1.2 million micro credit scheme.
The statement released by LAOLU AKANDE said the payment of N5,000 is being done through the Conditional Cash Transfer of the Social Investment Programmes of the BUHARI-led administration.
According to him, in the first batch that commenced last week, nine states would be covered, and many of the beneficiaries have already reported receiving their first payments by Friday last week, December 30, 2016.
The first beneficiary states include; Borno, Kwara, Bauchi, Cross River, Niger, Kogi, Oyo, Ogun and Ekiti States.
You will recall that the initiative was part of the campaign promises of the ruling All Progressives Congress but have been postponed on two occasions due to lack of funds.
