The interim report of the Ad-Hoc Committee on the Humanitarian crisis in the North East has indicted the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, BABACHIR LAWAL of awarding contracts to his company.
The committee headed by Kaduna Central Senator, SHEHU SANI in its interim report say the SGF awarded overinflated contracts to a company, Global Vision Ltd., of which he is a director
During a debate on the committee’s report, Senator DINO MELAYE, representing Kogi West lamented that it was ridiculous that a senior official of the anti-corruption administration of President MUHAMMADU BUHARI could be involved in the scam in IDP funding.
Also speaking, the Senator for Lagos-West, SOLOMON ADEOLA echoed the position of Senator MELAYE and called for sanctions against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The Senate after the debate resolved among other things to direct the Bureau for Public Procurements to undertake a re-evaluation of all contracts awarded by the Presidential Initiative for the North East with a view to recovering all the funds accruing to over inflated projects.
