The candidate of the APC, NURUDEEN AKINWUNMI, has emerged winner of the Saturday Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency bye-election in Lagos.
The returning officer of the election, Prof. CLEMENT AGHATISE, who made the declaration at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area, said AKINWUNMI polled 7,640 votes to defeat his closest rival, BABATOPE AKINYELE of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 1,771 votes.
AGHATISE said the total number of registered voters was 339,864 while the total number of accredited voters was 10,051. He added that the total number of valid votes was 9,689; the total number of invalid votes was 195, while the total votes cast were 9,884.
Meanwhile, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Obokun State Constituency, OLATUNBOSUN OYINTILOYE, has congratulated AKINWUNMI on his victory.
OYINTILOYE described the victory of the House of Representatives member-elect as well-deserved, saying the victory had justified his influence in the area.
