The police have confirmed the kidnap of a former Nigerian minister of State for foreign affairs, BAGUDU HIRSE, and have since cordoned the area where he was abducted.
ALIYU USMAN, the Kaduna police spokesperson, confirmed the kidnap to newsmen in Kaduna saying a manhunt is already underway.
Mr. HIRSE was kidnapped on Sunday morning in Kaduna in front of the house of MAMMAN DAURA, a cousin to President MUHAMMADU BUHARI and an in-law to late Sultan of Sokoto, IBRAHIM DASUKI who passed on last week.
The Plateau state politician was said to be on a condolence visit to Mr. DAURA when the incident occurred.
Mr. DAURA’s residence and the whole area have since been cordoned by police officers.
The residence, situated along Inuwa Wada road, Unguwan Rimi GRA, was usually a beehive of activities on weekends. Politicians and well-wishers often gathered there to pay homage and allegedly lobby for positions.
Mr. DAURA, though not a public official, is said to be one of the most powerful persons in the BUHARI administration.
