The move by the Senate to stop the warning strike of ASUU fails.

The move by the Senate to stop the warning strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, which kicked off yesterday has failed.

Senate President BUKOLA SARAKI presided over a three-hour closed-door meeting with the officials of the union led by its President, Professor ABIODUN OGUNYEMI.

At the meeting, BUKOLA SARAKI called on the Federal Government and ASUU to return to the negotiating table.

 

National President of ASUU, ABIODUN OGUNYEMI who thanked the Senate for its intervention said they are ready for amicable resolution.

 

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFund, Senator JIBRIN BARAU, who addressed journalists, said its intervention would prevent the strike from transforming to an indefinite action.
