Senate rejects FIRS budget.

Four months after it was presented, the Senate has rejected the passage of the budget of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS alleging that the budget was too ambiguous.

The budget was forwarded to the Senate on Thursday, July 21, 2016, by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI and it was referred to the Committee on Finance on July 25.

The budget document showed that the FIRS proposed twenty five point three billion naira for furniture and constructions, two point three billion naira for cars, one point four-five billion naira for fuel and seven point five billion Naira for miscellaneous.

While reacting, the Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI said he was baffled that the committee could recommend all the figures the FIRS proposed, without making any adjustment.
