Senate leader ALI NDUME gives reasons why the Upper House rejected President MUHAMMADU BUHARI’s request to borrow $29.9 from foreign lenders as part of the 2016 to 2018 national borrowing plan.

Senate leader ALI NDUME has been giving reasons why the Upper House rejected President MUHAMMADU BUHARI’s request to borrow twenty nine point nine billion dollars from foreign lenders as part of the 2016 to 2018 national borrowing plan.

According to him, the rejection was due to technical issues.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja, Senator NDUME said he was shocked that the request suffered such setback, however expressed optimism the issues would be resolved and the request re-presented.

 

ITA ENANG, the president’s Special Adviser on National Assembly matters says Aso Rock will not dispute the decision of the senate but would rather engage with the lawmakers on issues that have been raised.

ITA ENANG disclosed that the Budget Office of the Federation, the Debt Management Office, the Minister of Budget and National Planning as well as the Minister of Finance and the economic team have already began to collate the new information to be submitted to the senate to enable them take appropriation.
