World number two Andy Murray overcame fellow Briton Kyle Edmund 7-6 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the China Open.

The 29-year-old came through a tight first set on a tie-break, and recovered from a break of serve in the second to dominate the rest of the match.

Murray will face Spain’s David Ferrer in the last four.

In other results, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov was outstanding in a 6-2 6-4 dispatch of Rafael Nadal, setting up a semi-final meeting with Milos Raonic.
