Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney has admitted that he deserved to lose his place in the team, following a string of poor performances.
Rooney has been left out of the starting line-up in his side’s last three matches, but the thirty-year-old insists that he understands that manager, Jose Mourinho took the decision in the best interest of the team.
The England international said he has, and he will always put the desires of the team first, while vowing to do his best to work his way back into the starting line-up.
Wayne Rooney also expressed his disappointment in the treatment he got after England’s 1-0 win against Slovakia in their opening World Cup qualifier.
The England captain feels he got “slaughtered” for his display after former England boss Sam Allardyce stated that his captain “played wherever he wanted”.
Rooney insisted that he always played according to instruction, revealing that Allardyce, who lost his job last week, admitted to him that his comments had been a mistake.
