Flamingos Held by England

Nigeria’s hopes of making the quarter finals of the FIFA women’s U-17 World Cup are in the balance after the Flamingos played out a goalless draw against England in their second Group C match in Zarqa.

After an even first half during which both sides cancelled out each other, Nigeria took control of the contest in the second period, putting the young lionesses firmly on the back foot.

Flamingos captain, Rashidat Ajibade looked lively all through the encounter, while Mercy Omokwo was a constant threat down the left, but the team was often let down by a poor final ball.

Nigeria stay bottom of the group with just one point from their opening two matches, and they will most likely have to beat North Korea in their final group match to progress into the knock-out stages of the competition.
