Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has replaced injured FSV Mainz 05 defender Leon Balogun with Granada FC Uche Henry Agbo for next month’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier away to Zambia’s Chipolopolo in Ndola.
Balogun, 28, was named in Nigeria’s 23 –man roster for the big match before copping an injury in Mainz’ weekend Bundesliga action.
This is the first-ever invitation for Agbo, who last season, was a teammate to another first time invitee, Isaac Success.
”(Isaac) Success has already called to tell me that even though this will be our first-ever invitations to the Super Eagles, we will go all out to fight to make the first team,” Uche Agbo revealed.
“Both of us have longed to play for the Eagles and as it were, we were called up the same time.”
The midfielder turned defender will link up with the other players who are expected to start arriving at the Bolton White Hotel and Apartments, Abuja on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has hinted that he’ll be back soon from the muscle injury which has ruled him out of his club’s next two games.
This is his second spell on the injury sidelines this year.
