Coach of Enugu Rangers, Imama Amakapabo has said his side cannot celebrate winning the title until it is mathematically confirmed that they are champions.
Rangers are on the verge of claiming the league title for the first time in 32 years, needing only a point from their final game of the season at home to El Kanemi Warriors to end their lengthy drought.
Speaking after Sunday’s crucial 2-1 victory at Ikorodu United, Amakapabo refused to get too far ahead of himself. “We got the desired victory, we have 90 minutes to play for the trophy, the championship is in sight. We just have to keep our heads on our shoulders,” said the Rangers gaffer.
“Rangers still have one game to play this season…. We must keep focus, but it is not yet over”, he added
Rangers are unbeaten at home this season, and if they keep that record after Sunday’s match against visiting El Kanemi, they will be champions for the first time in over three decades.
