NPFL ; Rangers leaving title win till final day

Rangers International moved closer to a first league title in 32 years after a 2-1 victory over Ikorodu United at the   M.K.O Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

The Flying Antelopes could have clinched the title today had results from other centres gone their way, but Rivers United’s 0-0 draw against visiting Abia Warriors ensured that the title race will go down to the final day of the season.

Four teams went into matchday 37 still with a chance of winning the title but Wikki Tourist fell out of the way after losing 1-0 at Shooting Stars, while FC Ifeanyi Uba are mathematically out of the race despite recording a 1-0 victory over last season’s champions, Enyimba International.

Rangers need only a point from their final match of the season at home to El Kanemi Warriors to become Nigerian champions, while defeat will open the door for Rivers United, who must beat Abia Warriors to have any chance of usurping Rangers on top of the log.
