Jordan 2016: Nigeria’s Flamingos to depart for World Cup

Nigeria’s Flamingos will jet out for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Jordan on Monday, officials have disclosed.

The women’s U17s build-up for Jordan 2016 has been limited to test matches against local sides in Abuja as planned international warm-up against fellow qualifiers Ghana or Cameroon did not materialize.

The Flamingos, under Coach Bala Nikyu, will open their campaign on Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1st, against Brazil before taking on England and North Korea in the first round.

Nigeria has reached the quarterfinals at the last two World Cup tournaments.
