President Muhammad Buhari solicits international support to meet the humanitarian needs of two million internally displaced persons in Nigeria’s north east.

In New York, President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has told world leaders at the gathering of the United Nations General Assembly that his government was already implementing several people oriented programmes to meet the humanitarian needs of over two million Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria’s North East.

President BUHARI at a high level meeting in the sidelines of the General Assembly listed the intervention programmes to include the Presidential Intervention Committee on the Rehabilitation of the North East, the  Victims Support Fund, the safe schools initiative and the proposed North East Development Commission.

According to the president, we are making concerted efforts to meet our citizens’ immediate humanitarian needs by reducing their risk and vulnerability”, end of quote.

The president said the two million IDPs need urgent humanitarian help.

 

Two governors on the president’s entourage, ABDULAZIZ YARI of Zamfara and AKINWUNMI AMBODE of Lagos also barred their minds.
