Harry Kane found the net for the second time in two Premier League games as Tottenham Hotspur beat Sunderland 1-0 on Sunday.
The striker who was stretchered off late on after twisting an ankle scored the lone goal as Mauricio Pochettino’s men experienced a frustrating afternoon at White Hart Lane.
Kane wasn’t the only injury casualty to Pochettino as there were further injury woes for Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele, who were both substituted in the second half with what appeared to be hamstring injuries.
Nevertheless, the home side claimed all three points following a mistake by Sunderland centre-back Papy Djilobodji.
As a result, Spurs went above rivals Arsenal in the table after not losing any of their first five league games of the season for the first time in 12 years, while Sunderland – who saw Adnan Januzaj sent off late on – remain in the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, A fourth defeat in five games means Sunderland are yet to win in the league under David Moyes.
