Rio 2016 Paralympics ; Team Nigeria update

On Day 7 of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Team Nigeria recorded another Gold Medal to make it her 8th on Wednesday.

Josephine Orji did not just win GOLD in her +86kg Powerlifting event, she did so in style, breaking the World Record and setting a new one of 154kg to win.

That Orji’s win took Nigeria’s overall medal haul to eleven, with Powerlifting alone accounting for nine medals, and the other coming from Athletics.

The other competition Team Nigeria participated in was the men’s Team – Class 4-5 Table Tennis, with the duo of Chinedu Emmanuel Nick and Ahmed Koleosho beating their Polish opponents in round 1 of the competition to make it to the Quarter-Finals but lost to their Turkish counterparts by 2-0.

Nigeria will be participating in her last round of events on Day 8, Thursday as Lauritta Onye and Eucharia Iyiazi will be in action in the Athletics Women’s Discus Throw – F40 Final  and Women’s Discus Throw – F57 Final respectively.
