For the Edo state governorship elections this Saturday, the Inspector General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS has redeployed the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 5, Benin City, KOLAWOLE SODIPO to the force headquarters.
SODIPO, who had only resumed duties in Benin last month was replaced by another AIG, ISAAC EKE who had been in charge of training at the force headquarters.
The IG also approved the deployment of twenty five thousand policemen for the election.
The police are to be drawn from the mobile force, counter-terrorism unit, the Anti-Bomb squad, marine police and the sniffer dogs section.
Also, a peace accord meeting is to be convened by the Inspector General of Police with the political parties, INEC officials, election observers and other stakeholders before the date of the election.
