FG denies Knowledge of plans to increase pump price of Petrol

The Federal Government has denied knowledge of plans to increase the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit PMS known as petrol.

Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, MAIKANTI BARU and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, IBE KACHUKWU foreclosed the increase at intervals after having private audiences with President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

The meeting followed calls made by former GMDs of the Corporation for an upward review of the price of petrol, having stated that the current price of N145 per litre cannot be sustained in the face of current realities.

Emerging from the meeting with the President, both the NNPC GMD and Minister KACHIKWU evaded questions from journalists on the issues.
