Across the football sphere, the summer transfer window came to a close as clubs scrambled to land last minute permanent deals, loan moves or sales.

Here are some of the key deals completed on deadline day:

Chelsea

Re-signed Brazil defender David Luiz from Paris St-Germain for a fee of around £34m.

Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina for a reported £23m.

Leicester City

Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon for a fee believed to be a club-record £29m.

Tottenham  

Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle have for a £30m deal to sign, after matching Everton’s bid for the midfielder late on deadline day.

West Ham United

Real Madrid full-back Álvaro Arbeloa on a free transfer.

Everton 

Enner Valencia on a season-long loan from West Ham, with the option of a permanent £14.5m move next summer.

Arsenal

Jack Wilshere joins Bournemouth on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

Liverpool

Mario Balotelli completed a free transfer from Anfield to Nice, ending an underwhelming two-year spell.

Stoke City

Wilfried Bony on loan from Manchester City.

Sevilla 

Samir Nasri on loan from Manchester City.

Valencia

Argentinian defender Ezequiel Garay from Zenit St Petersburg for an undisclosed fee.

Espanyol  

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego López and Diego Reyez from Porto.

Malaga 

Eliaquim Mangala on a loan move from Manchester City.

Schalke 

Yevhen Konoplyanka on loan from Sevilla.

Werder Bremen 

Permanent deal for Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry.

Juventus 

Juan Cuadrado will spend the 2016/17 season at Juventus on loan from Chelsea.

Lazio 

Luis Alberto from Liverpool for r £4.3m.

Galatasaray  

Nigel de Jong from MLS side, LA Galaxy.
 

Besiktas 

Gokhan Inler from Leicester City for undisclosed fee.
