Super Eagles troop into camp for Tanzania clash

Ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania taking place in Uyo this weekend, Super Eagles players have resumed camp with Emmanuel Daniel, Jamiu Alimi, Brown Ideye, Victor Osimhen, Imoh Ezekiel and Musa Mohammed the early birds.

Due to flight cancellations from Lagos on Monday, the Technical Adviser of the senior national team Gernot Rohr, team captain Mikel Obi and a host of players will be joining the rest of the squad today (Tuesday).

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has urged Nigerians to throw their weight behind the new national team coach after his appointment generated discontent in several quarters over a perceived lack of required credentials to challenge bigger African nations.

In the same vein,  Rohr has insisted on a test game against Nigeria premier league club Akwa United Wednesday so as to ascertain the fitness of his players and also gauge the technical demands of the match venue.

A team official disclosed: “He said he wishes to fully ascertain the match fitness of his call-ups as well as have a practical measurement of the size of the pitch of the Akwa Ibom International Stadium.”

Saturday’s match against Tanzania will be Rohr’s first match in charge of Nigeria.
