FC Ifeanyi Ubah continued their pursuit of the NPFL title with a 1-0 victory over leaders, Wikki Tourists at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in Nnewi.
The keenly contested top-four battle looked set to end in a stalemate until Jimoh Oni acrobatically volleyed home Ivorian, Pascal Seka’s pass with twenty minutes left on the clock.
The victory was the Nnewi side’s third on the bounce, having beaten Warri Wolves, and another title contender, Rangers in their previous two outings.
Ifeanyi Ubah are now third on the log with 52 points, one behind leaders, Wikki and Rivers United.
Rivers moved level on points with Wikki Tourists with a 2-0 victory over Plateau United, while Rangers slipped up in the race following a 1-0 loss at Nasarawa United.
At the other end of the table, Shooting Stars boosted their survival hopes with a 4-0 victory over Kano Pillars, while Ikorodu United fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against El Kanemi Warriors at the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
