United Nations World Food Program warns that the number of people in need of Food assistance in North East Nigeria has risen to 4.5 million

The United Nations World Food Program is warning that the number of people in need of food assistance in North East Nigeria has risen to four point five million.

This is nearly twice the number in March this year.

A spokesperson of the U.N, STEPHANE DUJARRIC who disclosed this lamented that a worsening economy could further cause this figure to rise by another one million as early as next month.

According to DUJARRIC, while the World Food Program is scaling up its response, aiming to reach seven hundred thousand people with food and cash in the coming months, the agency still needs fifty-two million dollars to provide life-saving assistance until the end of the year in the North East.
