Powerful earthquake with a 6.8 magnitude strucks the north central part of Myanmar

A powerful earthquake with a six point eight magnitude has struck the north central part of the country, with tremors felt around the region.

According to the U.S Geological Survey, the quake which struck at a depth of eighty four kilometers swayed high rise buildings in the Bangkok capital, of Thailand.

It was also felt in the Indian city of Kolkata.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.
