Wikki Tourists climbed to the top of the Nigerian Professional Football League after a 2-1 victory over MFM FC at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
Obaje gave Wikki the lead on the 18th-minute mark when he headed home Ibrahim Mustapha’s cross, and the forward doubled the home team’s tally in the 36th minute, tucking into the MFM net after a goalmouth scramble in MFM box.
The Lagos team pulled one back through Austine Ogunye 20 minutes from time, but Wikki held on to secure the win that took them to 53 points, two clear of second-placed Rangers International.
Elsewhere, a Gambo Mohammed strike earned Kano Pillars a 1-0 victory over Rivers United, Heartland boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars, while Ikorodu United defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 at the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium to record their first win of the second stanza of the leaague.
