MEND asks Federal Government to ignore the communique issued at the end of the Niger Delta States meeting

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND has asked the federal government to ignore the communiqué issued at the end of a meeting of Niger Delta coastal states, which held in Warri, Delta state at the weekend.

According to Mend, the communiqué of that meeting which was convened by Ijaw Leader, EDWIN CLARKE and Delta state governor, IFEANYI OKOWA failed to condemn the activities of the militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers.

A statement by JOMO GBOMO, spokesman for MEND insisted that none of those at the Warri meeting have the capacity to persuade the people of the Niger Delta region to support the current efforts of the President MUHAMMADU BUHARI administration to bring peace and development to the region.
