Rio 2016 ; Team Nigeria Day 11 update

It was a day of more positives than negatives on Day 11 for Nigeria at on-going Rio 2016 Olympics on Tuesday.

On the track, Divine Oduduru advanced to the semifinal of the men’s 200m finishing 2nd behind Usain Bolt who won their first round heat. He will face Bolt again in two days, as he aims for a place on the in the final.

Another Nigerian athlete who also advanced to final of her event is Ese Brume, she finished 3rd in group B after leaping a mark of 6.67m in the qualification rounds and being in the top 12.

Meanwhile, Oluwatobiloba Amusan qualified for the semis of the women’s 100m Hurdles after going through as one of the best losers in 12.99s.

In women’s 200m semifinals, Blessing Okagbare could not progress to the final after finishing 5th with a time 22.69s.

Antwon Hicks running from lane 2 in heat 3 of the men’s 110m hurdles, clipped a barrier which affected his momentum as he finished 8th in 14.26s.

In Boxing, Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba was defeated in his +91 Super Heavyweight quarterfinal bout against Ivan Dychko, with the Kazakhstan boxers progressing to the semis with victory by unanimous decision.
