Rio 2016: Oduduru Advances to 200m Semis

Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 200m when he finished second- behind Jamaican great, Usain Bolt-  in his heat on Tuesday.

Oduduru crossed the line in a personal best 20.34 seconds, 0.06 seconds slower than race winner, Bolt.

While Oduduru impressed in his heat, another Nigerian, Tega Odele crashed out after finishing last in his own heat.

The semi-finals will take place on Wednesday.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Nigeria’s Oluwatobilola Amusan finished fifth in her heat, but she still moved on to the semis after posting one of the quickest times outside the automatic qualification places.

Later tonight, Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare goes in the women’s 200m semi-finals, Antwon Hicks will seek a place in the men’s 110m hurdles, while boxer, Efe Ajagba takes on Kazakhstan’s Ivan Dychko in the super-heavyweight quarter-finals,
