Rio 2016: D’Tigers Fall to Spain

Nigeria’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, suffered a big blow in their quest for an Olympic quarter-final ticket after losing 96-87 to Spain on Thursday night.

D’Tigers made a slow start, and trailed by fourteen at the end of the first quarter, but the African champions fought back superbly to take a one-point lead into the final quarter.

Chamberlain Oguchi was the star of the show with his team-high 24 points, but Nigeria could not execute down the stretch, as Spain finished strongly to pick up their first win of the tournament.

D’Tigers must now beat Croatia and Brazil in their final two group matches to have any realistic chance of making the quarter finals.
