Russia Appoint Cherchesov as Head Coach

Former Soviet Union and Russian goalkeeper, Stanislav Cherchesov has been named Russia’s new head coach

Cherchesov takes over from Leonid Slutsky, who stepped down from the role in June following the country’s poor performance at the European Championship.

The 52-year-old coached Legia Warsaw to the Polish league and cup double last term before leaving by mutual consent.

He has been given a target of leading the hosts to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
