Golden Eaglet’s get narrow win over Niger in U-17 AYC Qualifier

The Nigeria Under-17 team got their qualifying campaign ahead of next year’s Africa Under-17 Championship off to a good start after a slim 1-0 win over Niger Republic in the first leg of the second round of qualifiers at the National Stadium in Abuja.

The only goal of the match came as early as the 2nd minute off the boots of Alagbe Oluwatobiloba gave Manu Garba’s side a slim advantage going into the second leg of the second round of qualifiers.

Nigeria started on the front foot mounting pressure on the visitors, with top striker Nazifi Yahaya wasting a two good chances to put the Nigerians ahead in the opening ten minutes.

The reverse tie will be played in a fortnight at the Stade General Seyni-Kountche in Niger with the Golden Eaglets having a difficult task of protecting their slim win in the first leg.
