Rio 2016: Murray Chosen as British Flag Bearer

World number two, Andy Murray has been chosen to carry the flag for Great Britain at the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The reigning Olympic champion, who will become the first tennis player to fly the British flag, was picked ahead of the likes of boxer Nicola Adams and rower Katherine Grainger.

Murray was selected by a British Olympic Association panel after each sport had put forward athletes to a shortlist.

The Wimbledon champion will compete in both singles and doubles in Rio, with brother, Jamie set to be his doubles’partner at the Games.
