World number one, Novak Djokovic claimed the Rogers Cup in Totonto with a 6-3 7-5 victory over Japan’s Kei Nishikori. The victory earned Djokovic his first title since his shock third round exit at Wimbledon.
The 29-year-old has now won a record 30th Masters 1000 title.
Djokovic needed one hour and 23 minutes to complete his ninth successive victory over Nishikori, which secured him a seventh title of the year.
In the women’s event in Montreal, Romania’s Simona Halep emerged champion with a 7-6 6-3 victory over American, Madison Keys.
