La Liga: Modric Stunner Helps Real Past Granada

Real Madrid stayed in touch with La Liga leaders, Barcelona after a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Granada.

Karim Benzema gave Real the lead at the half hour mark when he turned home Dani Carvajal’s cross for his 23rd goal of the season, but Granada got a deserved equalizer through substitute, Yousseff El-Arabi.

Real looked in real danger of losing more ground on Barcelona, but Croatian midfielder, Luka Modric dragged the visitors over the line with a stunning strike late on to give Zinedine Zidane his first away victory as Real manager.

Los Blancos stay in third place, four points behind leaders, Barca, and one off city rivals, Athletico.

Barcelona, who have a game-in-hand on both Real and Atletico, recorded a 2-0 victory at Levante earlier in the day.
