The Denver Broncos produced a defensive masterclass to upset the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night.
The Panthers came into the match as firm favourites, having lost only once all season, and boasting the league’s Most Valuable Player- Cam Newton- in their ranks.
Newton however had one of his poorer nights at quarterback against a superb Broncos defence, giving up three turnovers, including one that led to a touchdown.
Denver opened up a 10-0 lead early on, and they never lost it.
It had been rumoured that veteran Broncos quarterback, Payton Manning would call it quits after the game, but the 39-year-old said afterwards that he would take time to reflect.
It’s a third Super Bowl title for the Broncos – after wins in 1997 and 1998 – while the Panthers are still waiting for their first.
