Teixeira Agrees Record Move to China

Brazilian forward, Alex Teixeira has agreed to join Chinese club, Jiangsu Suning after the Super League side paid Shakhtar Donetsk £38.4m for the player.

The 26-year-old, who was a target for Premier League side Liverpool, becomes the latest high-profile player to move to the Chinese Super League.

The fee for Teixeira sets a new transfer record in China, eclipsing the £31m that another Chinese club, Guangzhou Evergrande paid to bring in Colombian striker, Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool had been closely linked with a move for Teixeira during the January transfer window, with Shakhtar claiming that they rejected a £24m-pound offer from the Reds for the attacking midfielder.
